Teeling Irish Coffee

Irish Coffe recipe

Our twist on the Irish classic, which includes coffee from local coffee producers Cloud Picker, as well as our homemade spiced stout syrup which gives it a unique flavour.

  • 40ml Teeling Small Batch
  • 120ml Freshly Brewed Coffee (we use Cloud Picker in the distillery)
  • 20ml Spiced Stout Syrup* (can be substituted with Demerara Syrup if you’d like but it’s worth the extra effort!)
  • Fresh Cream

Garnish: Freshly Grated Nutmeg

Suggested Glassware: Hot Drinks Glass

Preheat glass with some warm water and discard, add the Teeling Whiskey, stout syrup, brewed coffee and stir to combine.

Warm a large spoon and gently pour the cream over the back of the spoon and onto
the coffee.

Garnish with a light dusting of grated nutmeg and enjoy with friends!

Our friends at Image Interiors have made a really lovely video showing you just how to create this at home, check it out here and let us know how you get on.

*Spiced Stout Syrup (makes approx. 1.5L of syrup):

1L Irish Stout (Guinness or similar)
1kg Demerara Sugar
½ Cup Whole Cloves
½ Cup Pimento/Allspice
3 Cinnamon Sticks
1 Whole Orange Zest
2 Inch Fresh Ginger Grated
Pinch of Salt
3 Whole Star Anise Pods

Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to the boil, allow to simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to steep for 5 minutes. Strain through a fine sieve and cheesecloth and bottle. Keeps for 2 weeks refrigerated.

Teeling Damn Fine Hot Whiskey

Who said a hot whiskey had to be boring? This tuned-up toddy is well worth the extra effort and is carefully tried and tested through the winter months by our distillery bartenders.

(Makes approx. 700ml of whiskey cordial / 12 servings)

500ml Teeling Small Batch
100g Honey
100g Sugar
150ml Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Full Unwaxed Lemon Peel
3 Large Cinnamon Sticks
5 Whole Cloves
1 Star Anise Pod
5 Sprigs Fresh Rosemary
Suggested Glassware: Hot Drinks Glass

Add all the ingredients into a large (1L) jar and give it a good shake. Allow to sit and infuse for about a week shaking regularly. Strain out solids and transfer to a clean bottle (should keep for up to 2 weeks).

Warm a heat proof mug or glass by filling with hot water and discarding once warmed. Pour 60ml of whiskey cordial into your mug and top with 150ml of hot (not boiling) water. Garnish with a swath of lemon peel studded with 3-5 cloves, a fresh rosemary sprig and a single star anise pod.

Alternatively, for a round of Teeling hot whiskeys on the go:

40ml Teeling Small Batch
20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
1tsp Honey
100ml Hot Water
Add the above to a warm glass per serving and garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary, lemon peel and clove!
