The library is breathtakingly beautiful and houses the Book of Kells – Ireland’s oldest manuscript – as well as the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic.
temple bar
Irish: Barra an Teampaill
Quirky, artistic, and full of life, Temple Bar is worth visiting day or night. You’ll see and hear musicians busking as well as local artists selling their work. The characteristic cobblestone streets are a real hotspot for tourists and locals alike, with lots of live music, art galleries and local boutiques here with something to suit all tastes. At night, it comes alive with music pouring from the pubs.
dublin castle
Irish: Caisleán Bhaile Átha Cliath
Just off of Dame St. and built upon the remains of a Viking settlement in the 13th century, Dublin Castle is a keystone of Irish history. It is an impressive example of Dublin Georgian architecture and steeped in history thanks to the many who have lived and worked here over the centuries. Today, it is a government complex, convention centre and top attraction on the tourist trail.
st. patrick’s cathedral
Irish: Ardeaglais Naomh Pádraig
Founded in 1191 near the site of many baptisms carried out by St. Patrick c.1500 years ago. The cathedral is a halfway point when walking from Teeling Distillery to St. Stephen’s Green and makes an ideal stop on your discovery of Dublin. Still a functioning church today, you may also drop in to explore the building inside and out and stop to admire its beautiful stained glass windows.
Christchurch Cathedral
Irish: Ardeaglais Christchurch
Originally a Viking church, Christchurch Cathedral has stood for over 1000 years. From the vaulted ceilings and medieval tiled floors to the crypt and belltowers, there is so much history and architecture to be discovered here. The Christchurch choir is famous, and both spoken and sung services are delivered daily, as they have been for generations.
Guinness Storehouse
Irish: Stóras Guinness
Irish beer doesn’t get more iconic than Guinness, and at the Guinness Storehouse, you can fully immerse yourself in the history of this beloved stout while enjoying a pint from the source.
