Teeling Whiskey Distillery turns 9 this month! And what better way to mark 9 years of Dublin Distilling than with our newest Birthday Batch Whiskey! This limited edition special bottling is the fourth inaugural release of the esteemed Birthday Batch annual series. To us at Teeling Whiskey Distillery it is always a special month as we reflect on the past and set new goals for the future! Seems like only yesterday we were putting in out stills Alyson, Natalie, and Rebecca (named after Jack Teeling’s daughters) in the first new distillery in Dublin in 125 years! 9 years on, and we have welcomed over 850,000 visitors through our doors, distilled 5.4 million litres of Dublin Distilled whiskey, served 175,000 cocktails at our famous Bang Bang Distillery Bar , and won over 35 international awards for the distillery, This includes only this year, Ireland’s Leading Whiskey Distillery Tour (World Travel Awards 2024) and World’s Best Visitor Attraction Team (World Whiskey Awards 2024). Safe to say it’s been a year to remember and worthy of a Teeling toast!

Teeling Distillery 9th Birthday Batch Whiskey – Production

 

The Teeling Distillery 9th Birthday Batch Whiskey consists of Dublin Distilled Single Crystal Single Malt Whiskey, matured in a hand selected rare Virgin Cherry Wood barrel, this has been bottled at 49.9% ABV, with no chill filtration. Crystal Malted barley is barley that is kilned to a higher temperature, producing a toffee like flavour unique to Irish Whiskey. This is an ingredient that features in the award-winning Teeling Crystal Single Malt, and we are delighted to develop this unique style of Irish Single Malt further with our new Birthday Batch Whiskey! Combing this with a highly atypical maturation in Virgin Cherry Wood delivers notes of plum and dark fruits, treacle and a black pepper spice. This is our first release at Teeling Whiskey aged in Cherry Wood and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Each whiskey in the series is a testament to the craftsmanship and innovation we practice on a daily basis at Teeling Whiskey, with a proportion of proceeds being donated to local Dublin charities every year. Social responsibility is at our very core here a the Teeling Whiskey Distillery. It is of the upmost importance to us that we consistently play our part in our society. Whether it’s donating a percentage of the profits from our tours to local charities, or supporting local businesses, hospitality, artists etc, we do our best to ensure we all strive together, in whichever vital role we play within the area.

 

Teeling Distillery 9th Birthday Batch Whiskey- Tasting Notes

 

Nose – Plum & dark fruits, roasted almond, cherry blossom, brown sugar treacle sweetness and oak tannins.

Palate – Vanilla and toffee apples, fruit cake, black pepper spice

Finish – Long warming finish with sweet honey and liquorice
