Teeling Whiskey Distillery scoops top prize at the Global Distillery Masters

The Teeling Whiskey Distillery, home of the award winning Teeling Whiskey brand, has been awarded top honours at the at the 2018 Global Distillery Masters in the Consumer Experience category. The awards which took place in December 2018 recognise the world’s finest distilleries across the entire spirits sector.  The Teeling Whiskey Distillery was also named 2016 Visitor Attraction of the Year’ award at Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky Rest of World Awards.

Chaired by The Spirits Business and judged by a panel of specialists, entrants are assessed on their customer experience, production innovation, digital and social media and environmental initiatives. The competition has been designed to recognise the growing importance of tourism, creativity and technical merit in the industry. Silver, Gold and the overall top honour, Master Medals are awarded in each category.

The Teeling Whiskey Distillery opened its doors in June 2015, becoming the first new distillery to do so in Dublin in over 125 years. Since then it has become a destination for both domestic and overseas visitors and has contributed to the revival of The Liberties in Dublin 8. To date the distillery has welcomed over 250,000 visitors through its doors and as a fully functioning pot still distillery, it produces up to 600,000 litres of spirit each year.

A visit to the distillery provides a truly unique consumer experience where visitors get to walk through a fully operational urban distillery experiencing all the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a true working distillery. It is a unique Dublin experience not to be missed.

Speaking about the win, Jack Teeling, founder of the Teeling Whiskey Company commented;

Figures just released by the Irish Whiskey Association show that visitor numbers to Irish whiskey distilleries reached 814,000 in 2017 and at Teeling Whiskey we have welcomed over 250,000 visitors to our distillery since June 2015. The Teeling Whiskey Distillery is located at 17 Newmarket, Dublin 8 and is open 7 days a week with tours running every 20 minutes. The Teeling Whiskey Distillery offers a range of fully guided tours which include the Teeling Small Batch & Seasonal Whiskey Cocktail Tasting (€15), the Teeling Trinity Tasting €20 and the Teeling Single Malt Tasting (€30).
