The Teeling Whiskey Distillery Celebrates One Year in Business and Welcomes its 60,000th Visitor
Ireland’s leading independent whiskey producer, the Teeling Whiskey Company is today celebrating the first anniversary of its award winning distillery and visitor centre. The company which employs 55 people has helped transform the heart of Dublin’s Liberties over the past year by investing €10 million in the capital’s first fully operational distillery in over 125 years.
The distillery which was named ‘World’s Best Whiskey Attraction’ at the 2016 World Whiskies Awards is the vision of brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling who wanted to bring back the tradition of distilling to Dublin. Their ancestor Walter Teeling had a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in the 18th century.
In the last year the Teeling Whiskey Distillery has hosted over 30 events and has served over 25,000 measures of whiskey and 40,000 cocktails to domestic and overseas visitors. Today, one year on from officially opening, it’s a double festivity for the company as it welcomed its 60,000th visitor through the doors.
As well as celebrating the first anniversary of its distillery, the Teeling Whiskey Company has achieved major success in the last year both at home and on the international stage. Teeling whiskey is the fastest growing whiskey brand in Ireland and is exported to over 40 countries. Some 400,000 litres of pure alcohol has been produced in their new distillery over the last twelve months and three new products across the Teeling Whiskey Company’s exciting portfolio have been launched.
Commenting on the milestone, Jack Teeling, Founder and Managing Director of the Teeling Whiskey Company said; “It has been a busy but successful year for the Teeling Whiskey Company. A key highlight for our distillery this year was being been named the World’s Best Whiskey Visitor Attraction at the World Whiskies Awards. We have also just welcomed our 60,000th visitor to the distillery which has been a major milestone for us. We hope to continue to grow our visitor numbers further over the next year as well as host more events within our visitor space.”
