Roddy Doyle Book Launch

Renowned Irish author Roddy Doyle is set to launch his new book Smile on 11th September, right here in Teeling Whiskey Distillery.

Starting at 6:30pm, Roddy will be reading extracts from SMILE, accompanied by Hugh Buckley, improvising on guitar. Dubray Books will be selling copies in the distillery and there will be signing after the performance. Complimentary tours of the distillery will be available for all guests. We’ll also be serving our signature Teeling cocktails in the Bang Bang bar, along with our full range of whiskeys, beer and wines.

Tickets for the launch are €15 including a complimentary tour and can be purchased here. There is limited availability for the event, so advance booking is advised.

Smile has all the features for which Roddy Doyle has become famous: the razor-sharp dialogue, the humour, the superb evocation of childhood – but this is a novel unlike any he has written before. When you finish the last page you will have been challenged to re-evaluate everything you think you remember so clearly.

Roddy Doyle was born in Dublin in 1958. He is the author of 11 acclaimed novels including The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van, two collections of short stories and Rory & Ita, a memoir about his parents. His most recent novel is The Guts. He won the Booker Prize in 1993 for Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha.

Hugh Buckley is a Dublin-born and based, self-taught guitarist, composer, arranger, educator and author.  He has performed throughout Europe, the U.S., Argentina and China, working as a sideman and also leading his own groups.  He has performed with a wide array of internationally acclaimed artists and has a number of recordings under his own name.  (www.hughbuckleymusic.com)
